Ashley Merritt currently serves as General Counsel for the Indiana Alcohol and Tobacco Commission. In this role, she provides strategic legal advice to an appointed four-member Commission on a wide variety of issues affecting all three tiers of the alcoholic beverage industry and oversees the agency’s legal and regulatory compliance efforts. She is also responsible for reviewing, monitoring, and providing legal analysis of proposed legislation and promulgating administrative rules in response to passed legislation. Prior to joining the ATC, Ashley served as a staff attorney for the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles and Deputy General Counsel for the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute. She received her B.S. in Public Affairs from Indiana University and her J.D. from Valparaiso University School of Law. Outside of work, she enjoys reading and spending time with family, friends, and her beloved dog, Chloe.
